Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar refrained from commenting on Congress leader Veerappa Moily’s statement endorsing him as the future Chief Minister. “I don’t want to comment on it. I was in a workers’ meeting, giving the pledge to all booth presidents as part of my responsibilities as party president,” Shivakumar said.

The discussion around Shivakumar’s potential elevation was downplayed by Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, who clarified that neither Moily nor anyone else claimed Shivakumar would become CM “today or tomorrow.” Kharge emphasized that such decisions lie with the Congress high command and that the current leadership structure, with Siddaramaiah as CM and Shivakumar as Deputy CM, remains clear.

Minister Santosh Lad echoed this sentiment, stating that while Moily expressed his personal opinion, the party strictly follows the high command’s decisions.

Moily had previously praised Shivakumar’s leadership and dedication, asserting that his hard work would eventually earn him the CM post. However, the broader party leadership continues to reaffirm that any decision on future leadership will be made by the high command.
